My heart soars...
Right now about 6 students are helping with the special ed gym class as we have medicals out of swimming. One of the kids in the class, her name is Sam, has/had (i'm not sure) cancer. Well lave st Friday when she was getting on her bus my friends and I noticed her coat was too small and didn't zipper and she didn't have a winter hat or gloves. That broke our hearts. So Saturday afternoon we raided the local thriftstores and each chipped in a few dollars and got Sam a winter coat that zippers and has a hood...we got her a winter hat (in pink! her fav color!) and gloves(also in pink!). On Monday we gave her her new coat and she absolutly loved it! So did her mom when she came to pick up Sam from school. Her mom started thanking us and crying and tried repaying us, we refused to take the money. We told her nxt time she was in a position to repay the favor to someone else that thats where she should send the money. After Sam and her mom left all of us had the biggest smile ever on our faces. None of us have money exactly coming out of our ears but we saw the need and we filled it. A friend of mine said she couldn't chip in because she didn't have the money. That upset me because you may not have the money but someone always has it worse than you. But everytime i walk into that class now my heart soars. Sam loves her new coat and wears it everyday. It makes me extremely happy. And i learned something, $5 for someone who needs it isn't going to kill you. All i did was give up my monster of the wk but you know what it was 100% worth it. I wouldn't change my actions for the world.
